The Washington Movers Conference (WMC), is the statewide not-for-profit trade association for moving and storage companies permitted to do business in Washington State.

For your protection, it's important to remember that anyone providing local or intrastate moving services in Washington must be permitted with the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission. No exceptions! This helps to ensure that the company with which you may choose to do business maintains adequate levels of insurance and accountability. Allowing an illegal mover to move your household goods is a risk, and may limit your recourse should something go wrong. We are happy to help you determine whether the Washington domiciled mover of your choice is legally permitted.

As a condition of WMC membership, each mover member agrees to abide by a code of conduct promising to provide Washington moving consumers honest, legal, and efficient service. Trained personnel, operating clean and safe equipment, are standard WMC member service characteristics.

The WMC provides extensive consumer information on how to make smart choices when preparing for a residential or commercial move, and we regularly act as a liaison between our members, consumers, regulatory agencies, and the media.

Among our member services, WMC provides educational workshops, industry forms, legislative representation, periodic newsletters and magazines, an annual convention and trade show, drug testing program, and group medical and workers' compensation programs.

The WMC appreciates its many associate members, which supply the very best in products and services to our moving companies so that they may continue to provide the highest quality service to the Washington moving public.

The actions of one company can affect the reputation of an entire industry. Therefore, as a condition of membership, all members of the Washington Movers Conference must agree to abide by an enforceable Code of Conduct.

Although membership in the WMC is not a guarantee of the performance of individual WMC members, a member may be subject to disciplinary review and expulsion from the WMC for actions which demonstrate a willful and blatant disregard for the WMC Code of Conduct.
